๐Ÿซ€ Restart a Heart Day 2025: Learn to Save a Life

Today is National Restart a Heart Day, a nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness and training people in life-saving CPR techniques. Itโ€™s a day that reminds us all of the power we hold โ€” quite literally โ€” in our hands.

๐Ÿ’ก Do you know the difference between a cardiac arrest and a heart attack?

  • Cardiac Arrest is when the heart suddenly stops beating. The person collapses, becomes unconscious, and stops breathing normally. It is a medical emergency that requires immediate CPR and defibrillation.
  • Heart Attack occurs when blood flow to the heart is blocked. The heart usually continues to beat, but the person may experience chest pain, shortness of breath, and other symptoms. It can lead to cardiac arrest if untreated.

๐Ÿš‘ LEMR: Bringing CPR Training to Communities Across Lincolnshire

Over the years, Lincolnshire Emergency Military Response (LEMR) has visited countless schools, cadet units, village halls, and community groups to deliver engaging displays and hands-on CPR training. Our most recent event was held in partnership with the Resuscitation Council UK at Scunthorpe Unitedโ€™s stadium, where volunteers helped hundreds of attendees learn how to respond in a cardiac emergency.

Community engagement is at the heart of what we do. Founded to provide a rapid and dynamic response to 999 calls across the county, LEMR continues to serve with dedication and pride.

๐Ÿ“Š Did You Know?

  • Over 30,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of hospitals in the UK each year.
  • The survival rate is less than 1 in 10 โ€” but early CPR and defibrillation can double or triple the chances of survival.
  • Every minute without CPR reduces survival chances by 10%.
