LEMR Volunteers Engage Community at Asda North Hykeham

On Saturday, volunteers from our Lincolnshire Emergency Military Response (LEMR) scheme spent the day at Asda North Hykeham, raising funds and awareness for our vital work in the community.

Ben, Aylissa, and Toby from RAF Waddington, generously gave up their time to host an engaging display featuring the kit carried in LEMR’s Fast Response Vehicles (FRVs). Their presence sparked interest from shoppers, many of whom stopped to learn more about the scheme and military life.

Adding a touch of fun to the day was Larry the LEMR, the scheme’s cheerful mascot, who delighted children and adults alike with his appearance.

Thanks to the generosity of the public, the team raised £109, which will go directly toward supporting LEMR’s operations. Events like these are essential to the scheme’s continued success, helping to fund equipment, training, and outreach efforts.

“It’s about more than just fundraising,” said one volunteer. “It’s about connecting with the public, sharing what we do, and showing how military values like service and teamwork continue to make a difference locally.”
