Featuring: David Ramsey

February’s spotlight shines on someone whose calm expertise and easy-going humour have become just as essential to local response efforts as the equipment he carries. Meet David Ramsey - a dedicated responder, problem‑solver, and all‑round steady hand when things get busy. Whether he’s supporting a complex callout or reassuring the community with his approachable manner, David embodies the spirit of service that keeps Lincolnshire Emergency Medical Response resilient and ready.
This month, we take a closer look at the person behind the uniform: what motivates him, what surprised him most about the job, and why being a local responder matters.
David - I first began responding about 5 years ago with South Central Ambulance Service while serving in the Army, and that experience sparked a real passion for pre-hospital care. It encouraged me to transfer to the Royal Air Force as a medic, and two years ago I joined LEMR.
As military medics, we’re fortunate to work with a generally fit and healthy population. Volunteering with LEMR gives me the opportunity to broaden my clinical experience - caring for people across all ages and a far wider range of conditions than we typically see in the military environment.
Being part of LEMR allows me to use my skills to support East Midlands Ambulance Service and give something back to the Lincolnshire community that supports us in the RAF. It’s incredibly rewarding to serve the area I live in and to make a positive difference to local patients when they need it.
Come back next month to meet another one of your Local Responders. If you have any questions for the team please submit them via the contact us option on the website and we will put them to the team ahead of the next edition.
As always, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who continues to support our work. Your encouragement, generosity, and belief in what we do genuinely make all the difference — without you, we simply couldn’t operate. If you’d like to help us keep moving forward and supporting our communities, you can make a contribution by following the Donate button on our homepage. Every donation, large or small, helps us stay ready when we’re needed most.
