RAF Waddington is the home to the UK's ISTAR fleet - Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance. It involves the integrated use of various air and space capabilities to gather, process, and disseminate intelligence information to support military operations worldwide utilising cutting edge technology within the RC-135 Rivet Joint, Shadow Mk1 and Protector.
The day consisted of various flying displays from the Typhoon Display Team, BBMF and Red Arrows, along with static displays such as the mighty Vulcan Bomber, the UK's newest UAV - Protector, RC-135 Rivet Joint and a Red Arrows Hawk T1.
The perfect weather drew a large crowd for the day, with children able to enjoy the sunshine along with various activities such as Dodgems, inflatable rides, animals and multiple different displays and stalls., with plenty of ice cream consumed!
Thankfully our crews had a quiet day with the majority of issues being grazed knees with a few wasp stings, meaning everyone was able to enjoy the fantastic weather and family fun.
As always the displays were fantastic and everyone went home with a smile on their face.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak to our crews on the day, Flt Lt Skews and Flt Sgt Wilson who assisted in the organisation for the scheme, and our amazing volunteers for giving up their time to support the station and give something back for the support the station gives the scheme.
